Singers combine offerings for fund

The Raleigh County Singing Convention meets each month at a different church in Raleigh County to perform. Offerings taken during the monthly event are combined and given to Mac’s Toy Fund.

Churches participating in this year’s events were:

— Jones Memorial Baptist Church, Jones Avenue, Beckley

— New Salem Baptist Church, Abraham

— Church of the Brethren, Crab Orchard

— New Life Baptist Church, White Oak

— Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, MacArthur

— Stotesbury Community Church, Stotesbury

— Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Calloway Heights, Beckley

— Prosperity Baptist Church, Prosperity

— Mabscott Christian Baptist, Mabscott

— Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, Stanaford

— West Raleigh Baptist Church, Raleigh

Mac's Toy Fund

Mac’s Toy Fund
Since the times of America’s First Great Depression, a Christmas season tradition has been taking place in Beckley to make certain that as many of our neediest children can experience the holiday with some cheer.
Established in 1930 by the late Ted “Mac” McDowell, who was editor of the Beckley Post Herald at the time, Mac’s Toy Fund will hold its annual party on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
