Mac's Toy Fund appreciates this year's generous donors

— The officers of Mac’s Toy Fund say thank you to the many people whose generosity of spirit made Saturday’s distribution party a success.

With the help of donors who give not only money, but toys, coats, hats and mittens, bikes, as well as their time, hundreds of Raleigh County children will get a visit from Santa tonight.

Without the generous donations and the help of a small army of volunteers, Mac’s may not have just served its 83rd year. At its inception in 1930, it’s doubtful that founder Beckley Post Herald Editor Ted “Mac” McDowell envisioned it lasting this long — that the need would still exist.

While we can pray that the day comes that Mac’s Toy Fund is not a necessity, for now, this is the reality.

Again, our most heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped in anyway.

— Mac’s President Dawn A. Dayton, on behalf of Vice President Pete Torrico and Treasurer Sherrie Hunter.
