Mac's Toy Fund gets ready for annual event

In just four days, the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center will ring with the laughter and excitement of hundreds of young children as Mac’s Toy Fund turns the facility into the largest toy store in southern West Virginia for five hours.

Time is winding down for folks to donate items — everything from used toys to used coats to help make the holiday happier for these children.

You can be like Carl and Brenda Tilley of Gahanna, Ohio, who shipped a large box of toys to the toy fund. The accompanying note said, “We hope these toys make it to needy children and many thanks to you all for working hard to give them to the needy. Thanks to Carolin Dillion, who recomended you to me. Thanks again.”

“Brenda and Carl, you can rest assured that your gifts will be put to the best use possible,” said Mac’s President Dawn A. Dayton. “And it is we who must thank you for your generosity.”

If you would like to donate used toys, take them to Crossroads Chevrolet or BJW Printing on Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley.

Bicycles for the Beckley Board of Realtors’ drive can be taken to ERA Advantage, 3082 Robert C. Byrd Drive, to Beckley Fire Station No. 3 on Eisenhower Drive and behind the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Gently used coats for adults and children can be dropped off at Chateau Interiors; Indie Sparrow Boutique in Beckley; Shady Spring Elementary, Middle and High schools; Ghent Elementary; Daniels Elementary; Walgreen’s, Kroger and CVS in Beaver; Family Coin Laundry and Big Lots in Beckley; Chick-fil-A at The Galleria; Raleigh General Hospital cafeteria; Kroger stores in Beckley Crossing and on Harper Road; Sam’s Club; The Register-Herald and Jump Zone at Beckley Plaza.

Monetary donations are needed to fund costs of the event.
