Local Roundup: Pertee lifts Lady Warriors past Bluefield

Wyoming East 63, Bluefield 45

NEW RICHMOND — Led by the dominant double-double performance from Bre Pertee with 28 points and 20 rebounds, the Wyoming East Lady Warriors rolled past Bluefield Thursday.

 Hannah Ford also contributed a double-double in the win for Wyoming East. Ford finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Chelsea Duncan added 13 points for the Lady Warriors.

Sheila Hopkins led Bluefield with nine points.

Wyoming East (9-7) hosts Greenbrier West Saturday.

GARDNER — Lyndsay Hatfield scored 18 points and Hope Nester added 16 as PikeView knocked off Class AA No. 4 Summers County 46-43. Courtney White grabbed 10 rebounds for PikeView.

The Lady Bobcats, playing without leading scorer Brandy Morrison due to injury, were led by Avery Pivont with 16 points and Tyra Wynes with 12 points.

PikeView won the JV game also 43-28, led Krysta Meekins with nine points and Katelyn Odle with eight points.

PikeView (7-6) hosts Class AA No. 3 Nicholas County Tuesday. Summers County hosts Class AA No. 1 Westside Saturday.

Independence 62, Liberty 21

The Independence Lady Patriots raced out to a 37-3 halftime lead and rolled past county rival Liberty Thursday in Coal City.

Emily Fedukovich led Independence with 22 points, while Brittany Wrenn added 11 points and Kelsey Hart scored 10 points.

Jasmine Law led the Lady Raiders with eight points.

Independence (6-8) hosts River View tonight.

OAK HILL — Jessica Brown scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, all in the first half, to lift the Pirates. Maddie Pritt scored eight points and Erica Hogan had eight rebounds.

Sarah Kessler led Oak Hill with 13 points.

Princeton 68, Riverside 47

QUINCY — Class AAA No. 5 Princeton hit 19 of 23 foul shots to put away the host Warriors.

All-stater and Marshall signee Mackenzie Akers led the way with 30 points, including 14 of 15 free throws. She also had five assists and seven steals.

Ashley Culicerto scored 11 points to go with four assists and six rebounds, while Hannah Preservati grabbed 11 rebounds and had seven points and four assists.

Brittany Wood led Riverside (4-12) with 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Princeton (12-2) will host Woodrow Wilson Tuesday.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Logan Pomeroy scored 18 points to lead the host Meadow Bridge Wildcats past county rival Fayetteville Thursday.

The Wildcats also received double-digit scoring from Cody White with 16 points and Caleb Farr with 12 points.

The Pirates were led by Aaron Krise and Jake Alton with 11 points apiece.

Meadow Bridge (4-6) hosts Montcalm tonight.

n Pancake fundraiser to benefit

Shady Upper Deck teams

The Shady Spring Detroit Tigers Upper Deck Middle School Baseball teams will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s on Harper Road Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8 to 10 a.m.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage and your choice of drink.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased in advance from team members or by calling 304-673-3338. Tickets will also be available at the door at Applebee’s beginning at 8 a.m. the day of the breakfast.

All proceeds from the event go directly toward helping sponsor the S.S.D.T. baseball teams.
