UPPER GLADE — A wide-open offensive game turned on a defensive play — Colin Frame’s 99-yard fumble return for a touchdown late in the first half — as Richwood prevailed in the season-opener.

The touchdown gave Richwood a lead it would not relinquish, and was the first of three consecutive scores for the Lumberjacks.

Richwood quarterback Logan Cox completed 9 of 14 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Adams ran for 122 yards, and Ben Webber caught three passes for 65 yards and a TD.

Quarterback Jake Thayer led Webster’s attack, completing 13 of 21 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Dalton Davis caught six passes for 152 yards and two TDs. Walker Rose ran for 73 yards and Thayer added 64.

Richwood will host Greenbrier West on Friday, while Webster County will travel to Ravenswood.
