PRINCETON — Princeton scored six runs in the fifth inning to hand Independence its first loss, 9-4 Saturday at Hunnicutt Field.

Addison Wood scattered seven hits and struck out six in the complete-game win. He also drove in two runs for the Tigers, as did Will Hickman.

Brian Sexton had two RBIs for the Patriots (2-1), who host Summers County at 5 p.m. Monday.

GARDNER — The Liberty Raiders (2-0) rattled off 13 hits in an 8-5 victory over PikeView (3-1).

Jordan Atkins picked up the win.

Joey Lacek went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, while Dylan Keel went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Liberty will host Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

RIPLEY — Ryan Windon pitched 4 2-3 innings, striking out four batters, to help the Spartans to their first win of the season.

Ethan Level went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Heath Utterback drove in three runs in the victory.

Ripley’s Cody Tittinger went 3-for-4.

Greenbrier East will travel to Alleghany, Va., Monday.
