Daniel Vass was smiling ear to ear Saturday at the Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex. He had good reason to be. The 13th annual Little General Stores Darrell Moore Classic withstood an onslaught of rain from Mother Nature and officially kicked off on schedule Saturday morning.
“It’s been going very well,” Vass said. “The rain has held off, for the most part, and we’re excited about that.”
Judging by the smiles on the faces of the kids playing the games, they weren’t going to let a waterlogged pitch keep them from the game they love.
“We’re very happy with the way things have went so far,” Vass added.
The festivities will kick off at 8:15 a.m. this morning with a devotional from the Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors for those who wish to attend. First kick will be at 9 a.m., with champions being crowned later in the afternoon.
