SUMMERSVILLE — Lauren Young fired a one-hit shutout and struck out seven to lead the Nicholas County Lady Grizzlies past Clay County in Class AA Region 4, Section 1 play.

Shelby Grose had two hits for Nicholas County, while Lauren Young, Devin Johnson and Alyson Childers each had one hit for the victors.

Teyah Sams had the lone hit for Clay County.

Nicholas County (10-12) plays Herbert Hoover at 5 p.m. today. Each team must win two games to capture the sectional crown.

NEW RICHMOND — Christian Hedinger and Derek Thornton each drove in three runs apiece to lead the Wyoming East Warriors past Liberty Monday.

Derek Laxton scattered five hits and surrendered just one run to collect his 29th career win. He is now tied for most career wins at Wyoming East.

Hunter Simmons, Chase Pressley and Hunter Justus each had two hits for the Warriors.

Austin Lyons had two hits, including a double for the Raiders.

Wyoming East (17-4) hosts James Monroe today.
