Roundup: PikeView boys, Trail girls take wins


BECKLEY — Summers County 52, Shady Spring 14

The Summers County Bobcats raced out to a 30-0 first-half lead and cruised by the Shady Spring Tigers 52-14 Thursday.

Dalton Meador led the ground attack with two touchdowns, while Ben Neal, Arizona Fox, Braden Knight, Timothy Persiani and Tucker Lilly scored one touchdown apiece for the Bobcats.

Summers County (6-1) hosts Peterstown Thursday in the opening round of the Bluegrass Conference playoffs. The Bobcats defeated Peterstown 8-6 in the regular season.

Independence 28, Beckley-Stratton 0

The Independence Patriots held their third opponent in a row scoreless and rolled past Beckley-Stratton 28-0 Thursday.

The Patriots offense was led by scores from Isaac Trotter, Logan Stump, Matt McKinney and Fisher Horton, while the defense was led by Will Milam, Logan Muncy and Alex Hart with a fumble recovery.

The Patriots will look for their fourth win in a row as they close out the season against county rival Shady Spring.
