Westside quarterback Justin Cogar looks for a receiver during the Renegades’ 31-30 loss to Liberty Aug. 24 in Glen Daniel. Westside (5-4) pounded Mount View 62-24 last Friday, and Cogar, a sophomore quarterback, was a big reason for the victory. Cogar rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing for 109 yards and two more scores. He also played a part in three 2-point conversions. For his efforts, Cogar has been named The Register-Herald Player of the Week. Westside will close out the season Friday at River View in a game with serious playoff implications. Westside is tied for No. 14 in the Class AA ratings, while River View is No. 18. The final week of the regular season begins Friday, and a number of playoff seedings still hang in the balance. The top 16 teams in each classification qualify for the state playoffs, which begin Friday, Nov. 9.
