ELLENBORO —
Class AA No. 9 Nicholas County used a stingy defense along with a solid offensive display to roll past Class AA No. 8 Ritchie County Friday.
Will Mayes rushed for 126 yards and scored two touchdowns (18, 5) and Tyler Sagraves added two more touchdown passes (9, 5) to lead the Grizzlies offensive attack.
Joe Amendola caught a touchdown pass and had two interceptions, while Drew Moore also caught a touchdown pass and had one interception for the Grizzlies.
The Nicholas County defense limited Ritchie County to just 92 yards on the ground and 46 yards through the air in the win.
Next up for Nicholas County (7-3) is a date with Class AA No. 1 Wayne.
