Boys Sectional Basketball Results

HICO — The Midland Trail Patriots outscored Fayetteville 50-31 in the second and third quarters and rolled past the Pirates 84-59 Monday in the opening round of Class A Region 3, Section 2 play.

Rickie Carter scorched the nets for 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Midland Trail. Tristan Minor added 14 points, Tyler Skaggs 11 points and Jake Grimmett had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Trail.

Zach Semple, Tyler McVey and L.J. White led the Pirates with 14 points apiece.

Midland Trail (9-14) travels to Charmco Wednesday to battle the Greenbrier West Cavaliers in semifinal action.

Meadow Bridge 56, Richwood 52

RICHWOOD — Junior Logan Pomeroy poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Meadow Bridge Wildcats past Richwood in a second Class A Region 3, Section 2 game.

Kaleb Farr added 14 points, while Cole Porter and Marvin Bragg had seven points apiece.

John Bard led the Lumberjacks with 18 and Zach Bennett had 12 points.

The Wildcats (11-10) advance to play Class A No. 10 Valley in the semifinals Wednesday in Smithers.
