Jeremy McGinnis fired a complete no-hitter over five innings and the Patriots rolled up 10 runs on 12 hits to defeat James Monroe Thursday. McGinnis also drove in two runs in the win.

Wyatt Adkins had three hits including two doubles and scored three times, while Drew D’Angelo added three hits and also scored three runs.

Brad Huffman and Tanner Muovich drove in two runs apiece for the Patriots.

Independence opens sectional play on Monday.

NEW RICHMOND — Senior Derek Thornton pitched the fourth inning to collect the win, smacked two doubles and drove in two runs to lead Wyoming East past Summers County on senior night Thursday. The win was the 30th of Thornton’s career setting a new school record for career wins.

Austin Canada had a triple and an RBI, while Zach Whitten added two hits and an RBI and Christian Hedinger had a double and one RBI for East.

Jaquan Ayers led the Bobcats with a double and two RBIs.

Wyoming East finished the regular season 19-4 and opens sectional play Monday at Westside at 6 p.m.

RICHWOOD — Liberty’s Joey Lacek opened the game with three scoreless innings and nine stikeouts and the Raiders pushed across 13 runs in that time span to roll past  Richwood Thursday.

Lacek was also red hot at the plate with three hits and three RBIs and Matthew Bailey added three hits and two RBIs to lead the Raiders.

Austin Lyons had two triples, Seth Prince had three hits and an RBI and Meechie Brown and Dakota Boulet had two hits apiece.

Liberty (21-4) travels to Woodrow Wilson today.

HINTON — Dustin Yoakum and Austin Ransom had three hits apiece to lead Greenbrier West past Summers County Wednesday.

Jordan Robinson added two hits and scored twice and Mikey Goddard drove in two runs for the Cavaliers.

Aaron Gunnoe blasted a home run and Greg Shrewsbury had two hits for the Bobcats.

Greenbrier West finishes the regular season 11-9 and opens sectional play Tuesday.

Colten Taylor raised his record to 5-0 by scattering four hits, allowing only one run and striking out seven and the Liberty bats came alive with 13 hits to roll past Mount View Wednesday.

The hitting barrage was led by Matt Bailey with two hits and five runs batted in and Dakota Boulet with two hits and three RBIs.

Dylan Keel and Seth Prince added two hits and two RBIs apiece and Meechie Brown smacked his first career home run for the Raiders. Joey Lacek smacked a double and a triple in the win.

Brian Villanueva had a hit and scored the only run for the Golden Knights.

Liberty (20-4) travels to Richwood today.

NEW RICHMOND — The Panther jumped out to a 6-0 lead and made it stand in their second win of the season over the Warriors.

Austin Cordell had a three-run homer in the 4-run first inning. Zachary Meadows hit two doubles and Hunter Moses and Jordan Hardin also had two hits.

Zack Whitten and Kevin Hedinger both doubled twice and singled for Wyoming East. The Warriors outhit PikeView 12-10, but stranded 14 runners on base.

Wyoming East (18-5) will host Summers County at 5:30 p.m. today. PikeView (17-9) hosts Princeton at 2 p.m. today.

UPPER GLADE — Aaron Krise pitched a perfect game no-hitter on Monday evening in the first game of a double header, defeating Webster County 17-0. He struck out seven batters.

Krise went 2-for-4, While Jake Holland and Trey Phares went 2-for-3.

In the second game, Jake Holland gave up two runs on four hits as Fayetteville beat Webster County 13-2.

Trey Phares went 3-for-3 with a double.

Webster County’s Mike Anderson was given the loss.

Fayetteville 9-9, Richwood 1-4

FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville Lady Pirates rode the strong pitching of Kaitlyn Sisler to sweep both games from Richwood and capture the Class A Region 3, Section 2 title.

Sisler gave up just one hit and one run in the opener and Ashley Gilkerson had two hits, including a triple and five RBIs to lead the Lady Pirates to the five inning victory. Chelby Dorsey added two hits and Maddie Pritt added two RBIs.

In game two Sisler had two hits and drove in two runs to help her cause and Alexa Roles had a double and an RBI. Gilkerson also added two hits including a double for the Lady Pirates.

Fayetteville advances to regional play next Thursday against the homestanding Montcalm Lady Generals.

Kacie Forren led the Lady Wildcats with four hits and an RBI and Ally Redden had three hits.

Greenbrier West advances to the championship series and must defeat Montcalm twice to advance to the regionals. Montcalm advances with one win over Greenbrier West.
