ROUNDUP: East girls, Westside boys take wins

Greenbrier East 66, Logan 62


FAIRLEA — Class AAA No. 1 Greenbrier East (17-0) stayed undefeated Saturday with a win over Logan (11-7) which received one point in the latest Associated Press Class AAA poll.

Logan hit 13 3-pointers, including seven from Hannah Tothe, but the Spartans kept pace with 10 3-balls of their own — four from Chaunte McDowell, who led all scorers with 25 points. Bianca Andre also scored 23 for East, along with eight rebounds and four blocked shots.

Logan was led by Tothe’s 21 and 17 from Shayna Gore.

Greenbrier East will try to remain undefeated when it hosts Capital on Monday.

Cavita François scored 11 points and Paige Lewis had 10 for the Lady Eagles, who led 29-12 at halftime.

Brittany Wood topped Riverside (6-16) with 12 points.

Woodrow (9-11), winner of six of its last nine games, will host Shady Spring at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in its final home game of the season.

Summers County 52, Charleston Catholic 40

HINTON — Class AA No. 6 Summers County (14-5) held off Charleston Catholic Saturday, thanks to 17 points from Avery Pivont and 12 from Tyra Wynes, who also had five assists.

Charleston Catholic (8-20), which was within four points at the end of three quarters, was led by Samantha Fletcher, who scored more than half of her team’s total with 26 points.

Shelby Smith had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Summers County, which will be at Clasy County Monday.
