ROUNDUP: Ayers' 3 gives Bobcats victory

Summers County 60, Independence 57

TaRon Ayers buried a 3-point shot with just over two seconds on the clock to defeat upset-minded Independence 60-57 Tuesday.

Ayers finished the night with a game-high 28 points, while T.J. Smith added 12 points and Matt Ryan scored 10 points.

Shane Greco had a huge night leading the Patriots in their upset bid. Greco was a force in the paint, finishing with 24 points and 18 rebounds.

Drew D’Angelo added 15 points for Independence.

Independence hosts James Monroe Friday and Summers County hosts Meadow Bridge Thursday.

MAN — The Westside Renegades raced out to a 36-4 first quarter lead and rolled past the Man Hillbillies Tuesday.

Levi Lambert led the scoring for Westside with 23 points, while Corey Bowles scored 15 points and Jordan Browning 10 points.

Justin Cogar had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Renegades.

Freshman John Thomas-Keffer scored 21 points to lead Man.

Westside (7-5) hosts Class A No. 3 Tug Valley Friday.

RICHWOOD — The Richwood Lumberjacks scored 53 first half points and cruised past Fayetteville Tuesday at home.

Ryan Bennett scored game-high 32 points to lead Richwood and Ben Weber scored 25 points.

Levi Mowery added 18 points for Richwood.

Tyler McVey led the Pirates with 17 points, while Will Dooley scored 15 points and L.T. White had 13 points.

Richwood (4-7) travels to Midland Trail Friday.

Austin Hill led the Grizzlies with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Cody McClung chipped in 10 points.

Nitro 46, Woodrow Wilson 44

NITRO — The Lady Flying Eagles managed to cut the lead to two points with 3 seconds remaining, but was unable to get the ball back as the Lady Wildcats defeated Woodrow 46-44.

Nitro’s Savanah Shamblin had 22 points.

Breanna Thompson had 13 for Woodrow and Sarah Akers had 10.

Woodrow Wilson hosts Parkersburg Thursday.

The Midland Trail Lady Patriots placed three players in double figures to defeat Richwood in over-time Tuesday.

Emily Carte led Midland Trail with 11 points, while Hannah Legg and Jesika Cooper added 10 points apiece.

Breanne Mazzella scored 11 points to lead the Lady Lumberjacks and Hannah Brown had eight.

Midland Trail travels to county rival Meadow bridge Thursday.
