ROUNDUP: Independence stops Summers 15-2; Valley downs Tug Valley 15-8

PREP SOFTBALL

Independence 15, Summers County 2 (4 inn.)


HINTON — Emily Ward went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while picking up the win for Independence, as the Lady Patriots beat Summers County 15-2 Saturday.

Independence catcher Katie Lilly went 2-for-4 with an pair of RBIs, while Taylor Parker also had a pair while going 1-for-3.

Summers County committed 10 errors in the loss, awarded to Brittney Justice, who also went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Independence (7-7) will travel to Bluefield on Monday.

SUMMERSVILLE — Nicholas County scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to a 7-3 win over visiting Independence Thursday.

Whitney Robinson had a double and two RBIs and Danielle Payne added a double and one RBI to lead the Lady Grizzlies.

Brooke Foley had two hits for the Lady Patriots, including a double and Taylor Parker also had a double.

WILLIAMSON — Valley exploded for 15 runs on 14 hits, defeating Tug Valley 15-8 Saturday.

Damaria Davis was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI for the ‘’Hounds, while Donte Wilkerson and Casey Stewart each knocked in two runs. Raeshawn Breckenridge, John Riddle and Joseph Eckert each had an RBI.

Riddle picked up the win for Valley (11-6), while Josh Spry was handed the loss for the Panthers.

Josh Stacy was 2-for-2 for Tug Valley.

Valley will return to action Monday at Van.
