SMITHERS — Valley scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break the game open and defeat Tug Valley 16-6 in five innings.

Druw Bowen led the ’Hounds with a grand slam and five RBIs, and John Riddle added a double and two RBIs.

Joseph Eckert drove in two runs, while Tyler Smith and Tyler Price had one RBI apiece for Valley.

Ethan Hager led Tug Valley with a double and two RBIs.

Valley (7-3) hosts Sherman today.

HINTON — Eleven runs by Liberty was not enough Monday as Summers County crossed the plate 19 times to defeat its sectional rival in a slugfest.

Greg Shrewsbury blasted a home run, a double and had two RBIs, while T.J. Shrewsbury drove in four runs for the Bobcats.

Josh Smith and Timmy Kitchen added three RBIs apiece for Summers (6-2).

Liberty (4-5) was led by Jake Lacek with a home run and four RBIs, while Dylan Keel drove in three runs and Zach Martin had a solo blast.

Summers County (6-2) hosts James Monroe today.
