ROUNDUP: Lady Warriors rally to edge Poca


Wyoming East 8, Poca 7

CHAPMANVILLE — Wyoming East rallied from a 7-6 deficit,  scoring one run in the top half of the sixth and seventh innings to defeat Poca Friday in the Chapmanville Tournament.

Bre Pertee smacked two doubles and drove one run, while Harley McBride added 2 doubles and Adrienne Mullins had a double and one RBI to lead the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Warriors overcame a stellar performance from Poca star Tori Ward, who smacked two home runs, drove in five runs and struck out 12 batters for the Lady Dots.

Wyoming East (3-0) continues play today in the Chapmanville Tournament with three games.

Shady Spring 4, Oak Hill 3 (8 innings)

Morgan Hylton singled home Hannah Daniels in the bottom of the eighth to give the Tigers their first win of the season.

Hylton was 5 for 5 at the plate with two RBIs, while Daniels was 4 for 4 with a triple and a double. Jesslyn Hughes, Ashton Kelly and Alexis Coalson had two hits apiece.

Coalson got the win, recording 11 strikeouts.

Morgan Harrah doubled and singled twice for Oak Hill. Tiffany Gray and Aliyah Gray both had two hits.

Woodrow golf scramble

A golf scramble, sponsored by Project Graduation at Woodrow Wilson High School, is at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Briar Patch Golf Links.

Registration is at 1 p.m., followed by a shotgun start. Raffles and mulligans will be available for purchase.

Fees are $280 for a foursome, $70 for an individual and $100 for a hole sponsor. Make checks payable to Woodrow Wilson High Project Graduation.
