Summers County 94, James Monroe 74

LINDSIDE — The Summers County Lady Bobcats raced out to a 29-9 first-quarter lead and cruised past James Monroe 94-74 Wednesday.

Brandy Morrison led the victors with a game-high 28 points and Avery Pivont added a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Freshman Whittney Justice scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while twin sister Brittney chipped in 11 points and also had eight rebounds.

Makayla Moran led the Lady Mavericks with 15 points and Carter Shiflet had 11 points.

Summers County (2-0) will host Webster County Friday in the annual Rogers Oil Classic.

FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville defeated Valley 72-49 in a clash of county rivals Wednesday behind the 18 points of freshman Kendall Malay. Malay also collected nine rebounds and had five steals.

Avina Sedlock added 12 points and Madie Pritt chipped in 9 more for the Lady Pirates.

Kylie Wood grabbed eight rebounds for Fayetteville.

Valley was led by Kelsey Bird with 17 points, while Abby Buchan and Jersey Thompson added nine points apiece.

Fayetteville (3-0) travels to Greenbrier East tonight.
