ROUNDUP: Johnson's goal lifts Woodrow over Ripley

BOYS PREP SOCCER

Woodrow Wilson 1, Ripley 0


Zach Johnson scored Woodrow Wilson’s only goal as the Flying Eagles (6-7-2) defeated Ripley Tuesday night. Beckley out-shot the Vikings 12-3, and Casey Young had 12 saves.

Woodrow will play at Capital in a MSAC game Saturday at 1 p.m.



PikeView 7, Midland Trail 0

Alec White had a hat trick, and Seth Wood scored two goals to lift the Panthers.

Alex Testerman and Vaughn Campbell also had goals. Quinton Brown made three assists, while Testerman and Noah Harrison had one each.

PikeView goalkeeper Austin Cordell had one save. Trail’s Nicolas Brewer made eight.

PikeView (7-5-2) plays at Sissonville at 7 p.m. Thursday



Greater Beckley Christian 10, Rainelle Christian Academy 0

Brent Daniel scored two goals to lift the Crusaders.

Zeke Smith, Patrick Bond, Jordan Miller, Harshait Agarwal, Rusty Hornsby, Nick Miller, Douglas Ernest and Jon Paul Kessinger also scored for Greater Beckley (3-7), which plays at Emmanuel Christian at 7 p.m. Friday.



GIRLS PREP SOCCER

Laura Hill drilled four goals and had three assists as the Panthers won their 11th game of the season.

Sophie Cline added two goals, while Courtney Gray, Madison May and Sydnee Staton added one apiece. Brooke Baker and Charlotte Webster chipped in assists.

PikeView goalkeeper Kristen Brinkley recorded two saves. The Mavericks’ Amanda Amos had eight.

PikeView (11-2-2) plays at Sissonville at 5 p.m. Thursday.



Greenbrier East 4, Shady Spring 1

Shae West, Katie Ervin, Bri Coles and Michaela Keen had goals to lift the Spartans. Lauren Prevett had an assist.

Lyndsey Thompson scored her 86th career goal for the Tigers.

East goalkeeper Hannah Bolt had three saves. Shady’s Kristian Deemer had 12 saves.

The Spartans, now 8-4, will play Wyoming East Thursday at YMCA’s Youth Sports Complex, while Shady Spring has a 4 p.m. game at Oak Hill.

SSHS Baseball Boosters tournament

The Shady Spring High School Baseball Boosters will hold their annual four-man scramble on Oct. 13 at Grandview Country Club. It will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
