Liberty 7, Lewis County 2

WESTON — The Liberty Raiders broke open a 2-2 tie, scoring five runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Lewis County and remain undefeated on the season.

Dylan Keel had a double and drove in three runs to lead the Raiders, while Matthew Bailey had three hits, including two doubles. Joey and Jake Lacek each added two hits in the Liberty victory.

Winning pitcher Seth Prince allowed two runs in the first inning, then shut down the Lewis County bats over the next six frames.

POCA — Andrue Hughart scattered four hits and gave up just one run to lead Independence past Poca Wednesday.

Brad Huffman had two hits and drove in two runs and Jeremy McGinnis had a double and an RBI.

Drew D’Angelo added two hits and Andrew Cox had a double for the Patriots.

Independence hosts Greenbrier East Monday.

WELCH — The Oak Hill Red Devils pounded out 21 hits and scored 30 runs to take a doubleheader sweep from the host Mount View Golden Knights.

Adam Jones, Daniel Pritt and Bubba Smith each drove in two runs to lead the Red Devils in the game one victory.

Game two saw Chris Hysell stymie the Golden Knights giving up just three hits in the shutout win. Pritt drove in two runs and Austin Nolan smacked a double and had an RBI to lead the Oak Hill hitting.

Oak Hill (3-4) plays Liberty Friday at 1 p.m. at Linda K. Epling Field.

Chris Metrick led the Flying Eagles with two hits, including a double and Tyler Copley gave up just two hits to capture the win.

Hunter Greco blasted a home-run and Logan Wriston had five hits to the Flying Eagles attack.

Ethan Amick, Drew Moore and Matt Doddrill each had one hit and Tyler Sagraves allowed just two runs for Nicholas County in the win.

Dereck Thornton was the hard luck loser, giving up just four hits, while blasting three hits of his own for the Warriors.

Jake Lacek drove in four runs and Dylan Keel had two hits, scored four runs and had 2 RBIs to lead the Raiders onslaught.

Matthew Bailey and Joey Lacek added two hits apiece for Liberty.

Liberty (5-0) plays a doubleheader today at Linda K. Epling Stadium against Valley at noon and Pocahontas County at 3 p.m.

Katie Snodgress and Michelle Snodgress combined on a two-hit shutout and drove in one run apiece to lead the Shady Spring Lady Tigers past PikeView Wednesday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Alexis DeMoss drove in five runs and Sierra Richmond picked up two hits and 2 RBIs for Shady Spring.

Savanna Coalson and Hope Nester each had one hit for PIkeView.

Shady Spring (5-0) travels to Richwood today.

VAN — Cassadee Blankenship tallied 16 strikeouts to collect both wins in a doubleheader sweep of Van Wednesday. Blankenship allowed just eight hits and five runs over both games, including a shut-out in game two.

Blankenship also added a total of four hits on the day, including three doubles to lead the Lady Renegades at the plate.

Alexis Walls had a triple and an RBI in each game, while Leah Pack smacked a double and a triple for Westside.

Westside (5-4) hosts Mingo Central today in a doubleheader.
