BECKLEY — Brad Huffman and Brian Sexton each drove in two runs, Drew D’Angelo had three hits and Independence beat Greenbrier West at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley.

Huffman was the winning pitcher, working 2 2-3 innings of relief. He struck out three and walked one while allowing three hits.

Austin Ransom took the loss but tripled and drove in three runs for the Cavaliers.

Independence rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs to stun county rival Liberty.

Katie Lilly went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the Lady Patriots. Brittany Allen had a triple.

Brooke Foley was the winning pitcher for Independence.

Independence will take on Greenbrier East at noon Thursday at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley.

GARDNER — Haleigh Compton threw 26 of her 36 pitches for strikes and allowed one hit as PikeView breezed past Fayetteville.

Compton struck out five of the 10 batters she faced.

Lena Hayworth singled on the first pitch she saw, driving in two runs, and Audrey Higgins had an RBI single for PikeView (4-3).

Ashley Gilkerson had an infield single for the Fayetteville (3-5). Kaitlyn Sisler took the loss, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out four batters.

PikeView plays Shady Spring at noon today at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley. The Pirates host Webster County in a doubleheader Saturday.
