Greater Beckley gets easy win in WVCAT

Greater Beckley 96, Regional Christian 41

SUMMERSVILLE — Greater Beckley put four players in double figures, led 56-27 at halftime and cruised to a 96-41 win over Regional Christian Thursday in the opening round of the West Virginia Christian Athletic Tournament.

Elisha Kidd scored 23 points and grabbed eight boards to lead the Crusaders, while Javonne Staunton-Bailey had 19 points and seven assists. Isaiah Francis scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists, and Payl Payne scored 12.

RCS was led by Nathan Waters, who scored 15, and Matthew Daniels, who added 10.

Class A No. 5 GBC (13-4) will be back in action tonight, facing Teays Valley at 7:30 p.m.

Greenbrier East 73, James Monroe 48

LINDSIDE — Obi Romeo scored 14 points and grabbed 17 boards and Class AAA No. 6 Greenbrier East shook off a slow start and went on to defeat the Mavericks 73-48 Thursday.

Isaiah Kinder led the way scoring 21 points and Tyler Canterbury added 18 points and seven assists for the Spartans.

Caleb Spencer scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Mavericks.

Greenbrier East (14-4) travels to Logan tonight.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Will Fenton scored 21 points and Fayetteville buried nine 3-point bombs to defeat county rival Meadow Bridge Thursday on the road.

Caleb Bailes added 14 for the Pirates, while Tasheem Saunders and Dalton Dempsey scored seven each.

Logan Pomeroy scored a game-high 22 for the Wildcats and Jake Parker and Kyle Judy scored eight apiece.

Fayetteville (4-13) travels to Richwood tonight and Meadow Bridge travels to Montcalm tonight.
