Beavers sink Raiders 63-27

BLUEFIELD — The fifth-ranked Bluefield Beavers began the postseason Friday night with a wire-to-wire 63-27 win against the 12th-ranked Roane County Raiders at Mitchell Stadium.

By halftime, Bluefield led 41-7 and had racked up 300 yards of offense. The Beavers ended the night with 430 yards, while the Raiders amassed 276 net yards of offense.

Johnny David touched the ball five times from scrimmage for the Beavers, and got 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Quarterback D.J. Edwards threw the ball just four times, completing three — and two receptions by Justin Carter went for touchdowns.

Bluefield (8-3) will play the winner of tonight’s contest between fourth-ranked Robert C. Byrd High and No. 13 Braxton County.
