Roundup: Flying Eagles claw Riverside; Lady Spartans win on buzzer-beater

QUINCY — Woodrow Wilson placed five players in double figures — Chase Hancock (18), Donte Nabors (15), Nequan Carrington (14), Andrew Johnson (14) and Brent Osborne (13) — to cruise to its 10th straight win by downing Riverside Thursday.

The Flying Eagles (14-4) opened up a 29-9 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back, shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor.

Beckley will be back in action tonight when it hosts St. Albans at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center at 7:30 p.m.

HINTON — Isaiah Brown hit a last-second shot at the end of regulation to force overtime 61-61.

TJ Smith punched in a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining in overtime for the win.

Summers County’s Taron Ayers led the way with 33 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc.

Liberty’s Levi Cook had 20.

Summers County will welcome Independence on Saturday for Senior Night. Tip is at 5:30 p.m. Liberty will travel to Webster County tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Oak Hill travels to Princeton Saturday.
