MEADOW BRIDGE — Senior Chandra Harrah scored 19 points and fellow senior Sarah Fleshman added 18 points to lead Meadow Bridge past Greater Beckley Christian 61-23 Thursday in the opening round of the Wildcat Invitational.

Freshman Ally Redden came in off the bench to score 13 points for the Lady Wildcats.

Kayla Hill and Liz Graham led the Lady Crusaders with seven points apiece.

Meadow Bridge (5-0) plays Richwood tonight in the championship game.



Richwood 48, Liberty 14

MEADOW BRIDGE — Hannah Brown scored 16 points and Brenna Mazzella added 15 to lead the Richwood Lady Lumberjacks past Liberty in the opening round of the Wildcat Invitational.

Hannah Metheney chipped in eight points for Richwood.

Jasmine Law led the Lady Raiders with six points.

Richwood plays in the championship game tonight.



n BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

Elkins 52, Oak Hill 50

WESTON — James Lawrence continued to drive Red Devil fans crazy, this time on the hardwood, scoring 17 points to lead Elkins past Oak Hill Thursday in the Lewis County tournament.

Lawrence’s four-touchdown performance was instrumental in Elkins’ win over Oak Hill in the season opener on the gridiron this year.

Logan Phillips scored 15 points and Colby Gainer added 13 for Elkins.

Oak Hill was led by Kyalo Bradford with 12 points, while Jalen Jones added nine.

Oak Hill (2-2) plays Lewis County at 8 p.m. today.



Nicholas County 77, River View 53

SUMMERSVILLE — The Nicholas County Grizzlies placed four players in double figures to roll past River View.

Jared Tharp led the Grizzlies with a game-high 19 points and Eric Peyatt scored 15. Zach Tolley added 12 and Cody McClung chipped in 10.

Jimmy Baker led River View with 14 points, while Taylor DeHaven and Tyree Baker added 11 apiece.

Nicholas County (2-2) travels to Clay County tonight.



n NINTH GRADE BASKETBALL

Westside 52, Chapmanville 48

Hunter Dameron scored 19 points as Westside defeated Chapmanville Friday as part of the Family Healthcare Classic at Wyoming East.



n Spartan Holiday Invitational

Greenbrier East will host the Spartan Holiday Invitational today and tomorrow in Fairlea.

Today’s schedule has the Greenbrier East JV boys team taking on Covington (Va.) at noon, followed by two girls games — Shady Spring vs. Amelia (Va.) at 3 p.m. and the host Spartans against Midland Trail at 5 p.m. The East boys will meet Capital at 7 p.m., then Trinity Christian and Metrolina Academy, out of Charlotte, N.C., will play at 9 p.m.

The girls consolation game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the boys consolation at 3 p.m. The girls championship will be decided at 5 p.m., with the boys title game set for 7 p.m.
