Girls: Fayetteville 53, Midland Trail 43

FAYETTEVILLE — Class A No. 8 Fayetteville fought off a pesky Midland Trail squad to defeat the Lady Patriots in the semifinal round of the Region 3, Section 2 tournament.

The Lady Pirates were led by Jessica Brown and Avina Sedlock with 22 points apiece. Sedlock scored 16 of her points in the decisive fourth quarter, and Brown collected 11 rebounds in the win.

Madison Syner led the Lady Patriots with 15 points.

Fayetteville (16-6) hosts Valley Thursday for the sectional championship.
