Roundup: Woodrow girls blank Nicholas County

BECKLEY — GIRLS PREP SOCCER

Woodrow Wilson 5, Nicholas County 0


Kayla Rodriguez and Kendra Vance scored two goals as the Flying Eagles gave Nicholas County the loss.  Erin Bass added a goal, while Rodriguez contributed an assist.

Woodrow Wilson hosts Greenbrier East at 6 p.m. Tuesday.



PikeView 8, James Monroe 2

PRINCETON — Sarah Stafford, Samantha Wood, and Laura Hill scored two goals apiece as the Panthers remained undefeated.

Hill dished out two assists, while Mariah Farley and Amanda Presley each added a goal. Farley and Kiersten White contributed assists.

Kelsie Gillespie and Whitney Ogle scored a goal apiece for James Monroe.

Keepers Presley and Deidra DeMoss had one save apiece for PikeView.

PikeView (3-0) visits Bluefield at 5 p.m. Tuesday at 5 p.m.



Midland Trail 2, Herbert Hoover 1

CLENDENIN — Hanna Fitzwater scored both goals for Trail, including the game-winner with eight minutes left to plaly.

Molly Sevy and Heather Hatcher had assists, while keeper Kayla Stonestreet had one save in goal.

Cassandra Forbes scored for Herbert Hoover.

Trail (3-0) hosts Point Pleasant at 11 a.m. Saturday.



BOYS PREP SOCCER

PikeView 9, James Monroe 2


PRINCETON — Casey Weatherly scored three goals and had two assists as PikeView took the win.

Joe Webb and Will Webster added two goals apiece, while Tyler Cook and Darius Hazelwood contibuted a goal apiece. Webb, Jordan Calfee, Alejandro Porras, Noah Harrison, and Mark Jennings each had one assist.

Ryan Wickline and Drayen Calix-Hererra both scored a goal for the Mavericks.

Keepers Adam Maxwell and Nathaniel Ellis both saved once for the Panthers’

PikeView (3-1) visits Greenbrier East at 11 a.m. Saturday.



Shady Spring 2, Nicholas County 1

Shady Spring won its season opener as Cameron Kilmer scored both goals and Jacob Childers added an assist.

Jacob Asbury scored for the Grizzlies.

Keeper Johnathan Beckett had six saves for the Tigers.

Shady Spring (1-0) hosts Herbert Hoover at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
