Trailing 15-14 late in the fourth quarter, the Midland Trail Patriots drove 79 yards on 19 plays, culminating with Ryan Wilson’s 6-yard touchdown jaunt, to defeat Richwood for their first win of the season.
Wilson finished with 269 yards on 32 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Austin Burdette gave the Patriots the lead early on a 47-yard touchdown reception from Glen Neal. Richwood answered that score with a Logan Cox 1-yard run for an 8-7 lead.
After Wilson’s first touchdown, Johnny Clevenger recovered a Patriot fumble in the end zone for a 15-14 halftime lead, setting up the late-game drama.
