Prep Football: Goodman scores 4 TDs as Oak Hill nails Nicholas

OAK HILL — K.K. Goodman scored four touchdowns to lead Class AAA No. 7 Oak Hill past Class AA No. 14 Nicholas County 47-17 Friday and remain undefeated.

Goodman rushed for 79 yards and two scores (3, 7), and had two receptions for 57 yards and another two scores (49, 8).

Player of the year candidate Jalen Jones rushed for 236 yards on just 14 carries and also found the end zone twice on runs of 20 and 47 yards.

Jacob Hopkins scored on an 8-yard pass from Tyler Sagraves and Wil Mayes had an 11-yard run for the Grizzlies.

Oak Hill (3-0) travels to Buckhannon-Upshur Friday.

RICHWOOD — Trailing 15-14 late in the fourth quarter, the Midland Trail Patriots drove 79 yards on 19 plays, culminating with Ryan Wilson’s 6-yard touchdown jaunt, to defeat Richwood for their first win of the season.

Wilson finished with 269 yards on 32 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Austin Burdette gave the Patriots the lead early on a 47-yard touchdown reception from Glen Neal. Richwood answered that score with a Logan Cox 1-yard run for an 8-7 lead.

After Wilson’s first touchdown, Johnny Clevenger recovered a Patriot fumble in the end zone for a 15-14 halftime lead, setting up the late-game drama.

Midland Trail (1-3) travels to Van Friday and Richwood (1-3) travels to Pocahontas County.

Keyshhawn Payne scored on a 52-yard run in the opening minute of the period and finished with 106 yards on eight carries. Druw Bowen caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Raeshawn Breckenridge to open the scoring in the first quarter, and he returned an interception 22 yards for another score in the third.

Casey Stewart scored on runs of 1 and 24 yards for Valley.

Jordan Lucas ran for 102 yards — 80 on a touchdown run when the Greyhounds were ahead 44-0.

Valley (3-0) will visit Fayetteville next Friday.

FAIRLEA — The Greenbrier East Spartans survived a shootout to defeat Parry McCluer, Va., and move to 3-1 for the first time since 2001.

Isaiah Kinder ran for three touchdowns (39, 1, 1) and tossed a 68-yard strike to Colby Johnson for another score to lead the Spartans, who rolled up 412 yards of total offense.

Special teams played a big role in the win. Zayvion Lawson returned a punt 73 yards, and Phillip Dowdy had a 95-yard kickoff return.

Parry McCluer was led by Rysheem Dawson with 169 yards and six touchdown runs on the ground.

The Spartans (3-1) host Class AA power Bluefield Friday.
