Prep Football: Goodman scores 4 TDs as Oak Hill nails Nicholas

OAK HILL — K.K. Goodman scored four touchdowns to lead Class AAA No. 7 Oak Hill past Class AA No. 14 Nicholas County 47-17 Friday and remain undefeated.

Goodman rushed for 79 yards and two scores (3, 7), and had two receptions for 57 yards and another two scores (49, 8).

Player of the year candidate Jalen Jones rushed for 236 yards on just 14 carries and also found the end zone twice on runs of 20 and 47 yards.

Jacob Hopkins scored on an 8-yard pass from Tyler Sagraves and Wil Mayes had an 11-yard run for the Grizzlies.

Oak Hill (3-0) travels to Buckhannon-Upshur Friday.

Midland Trail 20, Richwood 15

RICHWOOD — Trailing 15-14 late in the fourth quarter, the Midland Trail Patriots drove 79 yards on 19 plays, culminating with Ryan Wilson’s 6-yard touchdown jaunt, to defeat Richwood for their first win of the season.

Wilson finished with 269 yards on 32 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Austin Burdette gave the Patriots the lead early on a 47-yard touchdown reception from Glen Neal. Richwood answered that score with a Logan Cox 1-yard run for an 8-7 lead.

After Wilson’s first touchdown, Johnny Clevenger recovered a Patriot fumble in the end zone for a 15-14 halftime lead, setting up the late-game drama.

Midland Trail (1-3) travels to Van Friday and Richwood (1-3) travels to Pocahontas County.
