ROUNDUP: Pocahontas County wins 13th consecutive sectional

Tristin Day scored 21 points and had six rebounds and four steals to lift the Lady Warriors to the Class A Region 2, Section 2 title.

It was the 13th consecutive sectional championship for Pocahontas (14-8), ranked No. 7 in the final AP girls asketball poll.

The Lady Warriors went on a 21-0 run early in the first quarter. Their 30 points was the most in a quarter by the team this season.

Melissa Murphy added 18 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Sarah Ryder scored 10 points and had four rebounds before leaving the game with an injury.

Kaylee Edwards paced Pendleton (10-12) with 17 points.

Pocahontas County will host Clarksburg Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Wednesday in a Region 2 co-final.
