Roundup: Westside survives PikeView rally

Westside 56, PikeView 55

CLEAR FORK — Class AA No. 1 Westside took a seven point lead into the final quarter and held off a furious PikeView rally to nip the Class AA No. 7 Lady Panthers 56-55 Wednesday.

First team all-stater Hope Lester had a double-double to lead the Lady Renegades. Lester scored 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had seven assists.

Faith Davis chipped in 13 points and Kristin Hash added nine for Westside.

Madison May scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Lady Panthers and Lyndsay Hatfield added 14 points.

Westside (8-0) hosts Independence Monday, while PikeView (9-2) travels to Class AA No. 3 Summers County Saturday.

Liberty 46, Independence 37

Liberty jumped out to a commanding 28-12 halftime lead and went on to defeat its county rival Independence 46-37 Wednesday.

Jasmine Law scored 13 points, Stacy Williams added 12 points and Savannah Daniels had nine to lead the Lady Raiders.

Sophomore Chloe Layne led the Lady Patriots with 13 points, while Jordan Hall and Faith Fortner added nine points apiece.

Independence (1-7) hosts River View tonight. Liberty (2-7) plays Monday at Greenbrier East.

Summers County 60, Richwood 50


HINTON — Terry Smith scored 27 points to go over 1000 points for his career, and led Summers County past Richwood Wednesday.

Ashton Garten added 15 points and Dakota Thomas chipped in nine points for Bobcats.

John Bard led the Lumberjacks with 16 and Ben Beaver added 11 points.

Summers County (4-4) hosts Independence Tuesday.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Logan Pomeroy continued his hot shooting, leading Meadow Bridge past Montcalm 64-42.

Pomeroy scored 24 points for the Wildcats, while teammate Kaleb Farr added 18.

Josh Hamblin lead Montcalm with 10 points and Tyler Goins had 9.

Meadow Bridge (4-4) will travel to Richwood Friday.
