ROUNDUP: Greenbrier East sweeps Warriors, Mavericks

LINDSIDE — Haley Shires and Victoria Krystynak picked up the wins as Class AAA No. 11 Greenbrier East defeated the area’s ranked Class AA teams, Wyoming East and James Monroe.

Jamie Vallandingham and Aly paced the Spartans in the opener with three hits apiece, including a double for each. Breanne Pertee and Haley Lowman both had two hits for Wyoming East.

Michaela O’Brien and Krystynak led an 18-hit attack with three each in the win over host James Monroe. Shires added two hits and three RBIs.

Bekah Ratliff, Lane Shiflett, Haleigh Hershman and Samantha Ferguson slapped two hits apiece for the Mavericks.

Greenbrier East (9-0) plays at Ripley Tuesday.

Ashton Mullens, Stacy Williams and Makayla Farrell had two hits for Liberty.
