BUCKHANNON — Meadow Bridge 28, Pendleton County 13

FRANKLIN — The Meadow Bridge Wildcats outscored Pendleton County 20-6 in the second half to break open a close game for a 28-13 win on the road.

Pendleton County packed the line and held all-stater Jake Parker to 76 yards in the first half. Parker refused to be held down though, exploding for 153 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns to break the game open. Parker also had 11 tackles for the Wildcats.

Craig Peters opened the scoring for Meadow Bridge on a 39-yard run in the first quarter and then put the game out of reach with an 82-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Shane Harless was a force on defense with 13 tackles, and Ryan Church had two interceptions for Meadow Bridge.

Meadow Bridge (5-0) will host the undefeated Valley Greyhounds next Friday.

Bluefield 57, Greenbrier East 18

FAIRLEA — Bluefield took advantage of three Greenbrier East fourth-down gambles, scoring after each to cruise to a 57-18 victory Friday night.

The Beavers’ Cory Coppola and D.J. Stewart found the end zone three times apiece. Coppola gained 151 yards on 11 carries while Stewart picked up 124 yards on 16 carries.

Charles Ross and Brennan Wheeler also ran for touchdowns for Bluefield (3-1). Francesco Desiderio nailed a 41-yard field goal.

Greenbrier East scored on three touchdown passes. Quarterback Isaiah Kinder fired 19 yards to fullback Ben Allen, and 12 yards to Colby Johnson. Backup QB Jonathan Carr connected with Matt Beard on a 62-yard scoring aerial from Jonathan Carr with 10 seconds left in the game.

Coppola led all rushers with 151 yards on 11 carries, scoring three touchdowns. Stewart, also scoring three touchdowns, ran for 124 yards on 16 carries.

Kinder was 15 for 37 through the air for 172 yards. Ty Walker led the ground game with 59 yards on seven runs.

The Spartans (3-2) will host University next Friday.
