Summers gets first baseball win of campaign

Summers County picked up its first win of the season Friday, pounding out 15 hits while only allowing three in a 16-2 win over Midland Trail in five innings.

The Bobcats (1-2) were led on the mound by Trevor Anderson, who pitched all five innings and gave up only three hits to pick up the win. At the plate, Erik Lindsey went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, while Jacob Lively was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

EAST BANK — Joseph Eckert grounded into a fielder’s choice with runners on first and third to break a scoreless pitchers duel and lift Valley past Nicholas County 1-0 Friday.

Druw Bowen picked up the complete game win for Valley giving up just four hits, walking one and striking out 12 Grizzlies.

Jacob Grose was the hard-luck loser, also surrendering just four hits against the potent Greyhounds bats.

Bowen and John Riddle had two hits apiece for the 3-0 ’Hounds.

BRADSHAW — Josh Zeboskey of Wyoming East struck out 10 Raiders and allowed six hits to take the win in River View’s opening game of the year.

The Warriors’ Christian Hedinger was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs.

Tyree Baker and Cameron Roberts drove in runs for River View (0-1). Baker had a double and Roberts had a hit.
