BAC: Parkersburg South girls shock GW 68-43; Jefferson, South boys take wins

From Staff Reports

BECKLEY — Even coach Scott Stephens didn’t foresee Parkersburg South’s 68-43 victory over George Washington in their division championship of the Big Atlantic Classic.

“I thought it would be a lot tighter game,” Stephens said. “We pounced on them early and got things going our way, and it kind of snowballed on them.”

Sophomore guard Keya Bartlett hit two 3s to open the game for the 11-6 Patriots, and they never really let up. South led 34-13 at halftime.

Barlett scored 21 points and had eight rebounds and three steals. Freshman point guard Tara McCutcheon added 14 points and five assists, and center Carlie Wilson had nine points and nine rebounds.

Kelli Harrison paced George Washington (12-5) with 16 points and nine rebounds. Allanna Mobyed tallied 11 points and Rachel Ward had eight.
