The National Federation of High School Coaches Association has selected Sam Hill as 2012 NFHS Mideast Sectional Coach of the Year for girls soccer.
It’s the second big honor for Hill, who was also selected NFHS Coach of the Year for girls soccer by the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (SSAC).
He led PikeView to a 16-5-2 season, despite numerous early-season injuries. The Lady Panthers defeated Pocahontas County 3-2 in the Class AA Region 3 final to advance to states. They fell 2-1 to Fairmont Senior in the semifinals.
Hill is 91-28-12 coaching the PikeView girls team and has led them to state tournament appearances in 2009, 2010 and 2012. He also coaches the Panthers boys and owns a 64-49-9 mark. He took them to states in 2011.
The Mideast Sectional includes seven states and the District of Columbia.
