Roundup: Lady Renegades remain undefeated

CLEAR FORK — GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL

Class AA No. 1 Westside held off a determined Scott team Wednesday to capture their 14th win and remain undefeated on the season.

Faith Davis led the Lady Renegades with 15 points and Hope Lester added 11 points.

Morgan Spolarich scored nine points and Kristin Hash chipped in eight points for Westside.

The Lady Skyhawks were led by Alli Whitman with a game-high 18 points and Jamie Dotson with 11 points.

Westside (14-0) hosts Class AA No. 3 Nicholas County tonight.

The host Liberty Lady Raiders erased an eight-point third-quarter deficit outscoring Oak Hill 15-5 in the final period to grab a thilling come from behind win Wednesday.

Katie McGinnis led Liberty with a game-high 16 points and Jasmine Law scored 11 points.

Kaitlyn Goodman led the Lady Red Devils with 11 points.

Liberty (3-10) travels to Independence tonight.

SMITHERS — Bethany Romine scored 20 points, including six 3-point buckets to lead Class AA Herbert Hoover past Class A No. 8 Valley Wednesday.

Bailey Aab added 12 points and Caroline Thornburg nine points for Herbert Hoover.

Alexis Payne led the Lady Greyhounds with a game-high 21 points and 21 rebounds, while Grayson Grubb added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Valley (8-3) travels to Mount View Saturday.

RICHWOOD — The Meadow Bridge Lady Wildcats (8-5) placed four players in double-figures to roll past sectional rival Richwood Wednesday.

Allison Gilkerson led the way for the Lady Wildcats with 15 points and Caitlin White scored 14 points.

Chandra Harrah and Sarah Fleshman each had a double-double for Meadow Bridge. Harrah had 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Fleshman had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Hannah Brown and Breanna Mazzella led the Lady Lumberjacks with 13 points apiece.

Richwood (5-9) hosts Van Friday, while Meadow Bridge travels to Van Saturday at 2 p.m.

DUNMORE — Class A No. 6 Pocahontas County shook off a slow start to roll past Moorefield Wednesday.

Tristin Day led the Lady Warriors with 23 points, while Bobbie McNabb added 13 points and Marka Kane had nine points.

Heather Snead grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and Olivia Workman had 10 rebounds for the Lady Warriors.

Tara George led Moorefield with 14 points and Courtney Parker had 12 points.

Pocahontas County (11-3) travels to Class A No. 5 Tucker County Friday.

Nicholas County 69, Midland Trail 66


HICO — Jared Tharp scored a game-high 21 points to lead Nicholas County past Midland Trail Wednesday breaking a four-game losing skid for the Grizzlies.

Cody McClung added 13 points and Eric Peyatt scored 11 points for Nicholas County.

Jake Grimmett led the Patriots with 20 points, while Rickie Carter added 16 points and Tyler Skaggs had 13 points.

Nicholas County (7-6) travels to Liberty Friday. Midland Trail travels to Class A No. 8 Valley Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest at WVU-Tech.
