LINDSIDE — Tanner Muovich and Dean Milam combined for 11 strikeouts and limited James Monroe to just five hits as Independence defeated the Mavericks 3-1 Friday.

Wyatt Adkins led the Patriot hitters with three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Jeremy McGinnis and Brian Sexton added two hits apiece.

Cory Lilly, Reed McNeer and Caleb Brown each had one hit for the Mavericks.

Independence (2-0) hosts Summers County Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE — Will Dooley smacked a home run and drove in three runs to lead Fayetteville past Summers County Friday.

Jake Cogar added two hits and Aaron Krise pitched a complete game, giving up just five hits to get the win for Fayetteville.

Aaron Gunnoe hit a home run and drove in two runs to lead the Bobcats, while Jaquan Ayers added two hits.

Fayetteville (2-2) hosts Meadow Bridge today in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

HINTON— Summers County’s Katie Walker pitched a six-inning no-hitter to help the Lady Bobcats defeat Bluefield 8-0.

Brooke Cole went 2-for-4 for a home run while Brittany Bennett added a home run of her own in the effort.

Summers County improved to 2-2 on the season and will travel to Princeton for a double-header at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

LOGAN — Sierra Richmond blasted the first pitch of the game out of the park and Mackenzie Milam followed that up with a home run just two batters later to lead the Tigers past Logan Friday. Richmond finished with two hits and an RBI, while Milam had two hits and two RBI.

Katie Snodgress limited the Logan hitters to just four hits in the shutout win and also drove in a run.

Shady Spring (2-0) travels to Mount View Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE — Kaitlyn Sisler limited Westside to just three singles from the mound, then hit a home run and drove in two runs to lead the Lady Pirates past the Lady Renegades 4-3 Friday.

Allyson Kesler added two hits, while Ashley Gilkerson and Kelsey Norris each had a double for Fayetteville.

Taylor Grimmett, Ashton Lester and Alexis Walls each had a single for Westside.

Fayetteville (1-1) hosts Sherman at 1 p.m today and Riverside at 3 p.m.
