FAIRLEA — Rondale Watson poured in 35 points and Obi Romeo finished with a triple-double to lead Greenbrier East past a determined Shady Spring Tigers squad 72-62 Monday in boys prep basketball action.

Romeo finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Tyler Canterbury scored 12 points and Josh Tunstalle had nine for the Spartans.

The Tigers placed four players in double figures, led by Nate Williams with 14 points. Steven Chhabra had 13 points and eight assists.

Jordan Meadows added 12 points and Landon Perry chipped in 11 for the Tigers.

Greenbrier East (4-2) hosts Liberty Christian Academy, Va., Friday. Shady Spring (3-3) hosts Lewis County next Monday.

HINTON — Summers County rallied from a 14-point deficit after three quarters and tied the score late in the fourth, but fell to Covington, Va.

Raquaan Matthews led Covington with 27 points and Quinton Hunter added 12.

Matt Ryan led the Bobcats with 23 points, while Jacob Lively added 15 and Terry Smith scored 12.

Summers County (2-3) travels to James Monroe Thursday.

Liberty 69, Sherman 68 (OT)

SETH — The Liberty Raiders overcame foul trouble and a sluggish second half to defeat rival Sherman 69-68 in overtime.

Austin Roop led the Raiders with a game-high 22 points, while Dylan Keel and Trevor McGhee added 13 points apiece in the win.

Devin Acord scored 10 points and Tre McDowell finished with nine for Liberty.

Cody Muncy led the Tide with 21 points and Braden Harrah, Aaron Lowe and Tyler Stewart chipped in nine points apiece.

Liberty (5-1) hosts PikeView Friday.
