Roundup: Warriors turn back North Marion 66-50

Wyoming East 66, North Marion 50


Christian Hedinger and Austin Canada both scored 15 points as Wyoming East defeated North Marion Saturday.

The Warriors led 37-20 at halftime before the Huskies narrowed their deficit to 45-40 after three. But East went on a 14-1 run in the fourth to put the game away.

Jordan Hayes added 13 points for the Warriors.

Matt Martin scored 10 to lead the Huskies (3-3).

Wyoming East (3-0) will host rival Westside at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Westside (4-0) beat North Marion 78-55 the night before East’s victory.

HINTON — T.J. Smith scored 21 points and had six steals as Summers County beat its Route 20 rival.

Matt Ryan added 13 points and Ashton Garten 11 for the Bobcats (2-2).

Meadow Bridge got 16 points and 17 rebounds from Kaleb Farr. Logan Pomeroy scored 16 points  and Kyle Judy grabbed 10 boards.

Summers will host Covington, Va., Monday.

STERLING, Va. — Elisha Kidd scored 24 points and was named tournament MVP as Greater Beckley Christian defeated host Parkview in its holiday tournament championship game.

Brent Daniels scored a game-high 28 for the Crusaders (3-0), while Javonne Staunton-Bailey added 13.

Staunton-Bailey, Daniels and Isaiah Francis joined Kidd on the all-tournament team.

Greater Beckley will visit Man Friday.
