Naoma —
Outbuilding blows up
Police say an outbuilding of a residence in Naoma exploded Sunday night. No injuries were reported.
The incident happened on Old Country Road, right off Coal River Road, around 6:50 p.m. James Clay, assistant chief of Coal River Fire Department, said the cause is still under investigation but he speculates the cause to be electrical.
Clay added the cause was originally reported as a propane explosion but said instead it was an oxygen bottle.
“The building was about 10 by 10 and it was completely destroyed,” Clay said. “One person was actually sitting outside when the building exploded but there were no injuries.”
The Coal River, Trap Hill and Whitesville Fire Departments responded and the West Virginia State Police investigated.
