Approximately 25 firefighters from four departments responded to a house fire on Germany Road in Greenbrier County Tuesday around 7:20 a.m.

Lt. Ryan Garavaglia with Frankford Fire Department said the home was a single story structure and it was a total loss.

He said the fire started in the flue in the kitchen and when firefighters arrived, there were already flames in the walls and attic of the house.

Thick smoke poured from both eaves of the home, Garavaglia said, and it took fire crews over three hours to clear the scene.

The homeowners were present at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported.

In addition to Frankford, departments from Fairlea, Lewisburg and Williamsburg also responded.
