Raleigh County’s Academy of Careers and Technology invites the public to see students’ skills at the 12th annual Festival of Trees Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Principal Charles Pack explained that students in academy programs have used the skills they learned in class to create a Holiday exhibit.
The masonry class, for instance, has created a tree from bricks and the welding program created one with hundreds of hand-produced scroll work.
The culinary arts tree will be covered with edible snacks and the criminal justice program has set up a holiday crime scene, he added.
“Students are learning their skills, working together and showing their holiday spirit. This is a great event,” he said.
In the past ACT has welcomed as many as 700 members of the community to the Festival of Trees and many look forward to the showcase each year, said Pack.
Visitors will receive a token to vote for their favorite among the more than 30 trees set up.
Pack said the community is invited to attend and see this whimsical, creative display.
