You can support Just for Kids, Inc., while celebrating six “champions of children” at the Just for Kids annual recognition dinner at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 13, held at the Mountaineer Conference Center at the Country Inn and Suites on Harper Road in Beckley.
The event will include dinner, a cash bar, a silent auction, a raffle for a new Apple iPad and live entertainment by students from The School of Harmony.
This year Just For Kids is recognizing six individuals from Wyoming, Raleigh and Fayette counties who have gone above and beyond to help children and families in the community: Detective Sergeant Glen Chapman of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department; Lieutenant Jim Bare of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department; Joe Bullington, Region IV Regional DHHR Director; Joyce Pitsenbarger, RN, Director of Education, Raleigh General Hospital; Heather Lucas, Fayette County Child Protective Services Supervisor; and Kathy Brunty, Director, Wyoming County Family Resource Network.
In addition the following organizations will be recognized for their major financial support to Just For Kids, Inc.: Alpha Natural Resources, Two Brothers Collision, Legacy Resources, and the Bickey Family.
Founded in 2002, Just For Kids works with hundreds of children in Raleigh, Fayette and Wyoming Counties each year who are traumatized by sexual abuse. A nationally-certified Child Advocacy Center, Just For Kids creates a coordinated, professional team response for helping children alleging criminal child abuse.
Just For Kids also provides the Stewards of Children program, a nationally recognized abuse prevention program for adults in the community. In addition to the Beckley office and child advocacy center, Just for Kids maintains offices in Oak Hill and Pineville.
