CHARLESTON — Mountaineer fans are invited to “Inside the Huddle with Tony Caridi” at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, to raise funds for Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

Janett Green, executive director of Hospice, says that while Caridi has done this type of event throughout the state, it will be his first time speaking in Beckley.

Caridi, the well known broadcaster for the West Virginia Mountaineers, stated that for the last several years “Inside the Huddle” events have been “an informal evening of conversation about the Mountaineers. They have been good opportunities for organizations to raise funds for meaningful causes.” Caridi will be doing a Huddle event in Charleston to benefit Highland Hospital and just finished one in Fairmont where proceeds benefited the Main Street program.

In Beckley, “he will recap the basketball season, offer a preview of the football season, speak about life after Pat White, show recruiting video highlights and point out freshman impact players,” Green said.

Those who attend will also have an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with Caridi.

Other special guests at the event will include Jerry West and Miss West Virginia. Caridi said this event is “particularly special because the legendary icon Jerry West has agreed to come and share is thoughts on various basketball topics.”

The event will boast a tailgate atmosphere and participants are encouraged to wear their WVU colors and pride.

“I’m very excited about people coming out and showing their Mountaineer spirit and support for the Hospice,” Green said.

Tailgate type food will be served and there will be prizes and auctions.

Hospice of Southern West Virginia serves those with life-limiting illnesses, helping them find comfort, support and dignity by providing support for their psychological, physical, social and spiritual needs. Hospice serves Raleigh, Fayette, Wyoming and Summers counties.

“If this event is a success, it will help us with general operating funds for the year,” Green said.

Those interested in purchasing tickets should visit www.hospiceofsouthernwv.org or call 304-255-6404 for reservations. Individual tickets that include the meal are $30. Tables for eight with priority seating can be purchased for $270. Seating is limited and those interested in attending should consider registering soon, Green said.
