FAIRLEA —
Like the Pied Piper, Marc Dobson and his One Man Band are drawing an audience at a free show staged daily at the State Fair.
“I built it all myself,” said Dobson, pointing to the pack on his back that holds a harmonica, bass drum, snare drum, high hat, crash cymbals, flash cymbals and tambourine.
“The drums are attached to my sandals and that makes them move,” Dobson explained.
“I use a few different voices,” says the performer, who brings a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll, country and “sweet” music into his performance.
“One of my favorite songs is ‘Georgia on My Mind,’” he noted.
Tall and lanky, Dobson has been an entertainer for a number of years. He has a rapport with his audience and doesn’t hesitate to invite someone in the crowd to dance while he plays a song.
Dobson will head home to Florida after some dates in Pennsylvania. During the winter months, he will perform in clubs and other venues in the Sunshine State.
