Group arrested in connection with alleged mine copper theft

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Department have charged five people in conjunction with thousands of dollars in copper thefts from an Itmann mine on Nov. 30, according to Sheriff Randall Aliff.

David Lee Reed, of Amigo, Christopher Reed, of Allen Junction, and Dicky Joe Lusk, of Stephenson, no ages available, were charged with grand larceny, Aliff said.

Darla Cantlee and Adria Lester, both of Allen Junction, were each charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, according to the sheriff.

Charges against another female suspect have been dropped, Aliff explained.

Authorities were alerted to a strange vehicle at the mine, Aliff said, and responded. The deputies caught the group at the scene while they were trying to remove approximately $8,000 worth of copper, he said.

Aliff said the group was in the mine for several hours before authorities arrived.

The investigation is continuing.
