Staci Hartshorn, a volunteer with AmeriCorps, helps children enrolled in the Energy Express program at Coal City Elementary School on a project. AmeriCorps members from Cranberry-Prosperity, Bradley and Coal City elementary schools are coming together to do community service in the form of a blood drive. In conjunction with the American Red Cross and FEMA the drive, will be at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church July 20 from 1-6 p.m.

Mount Hope man sentenced on firearms charge
A Mount Hope man was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Charleston to more than five years in federal prison. Evan Darnell Wagner, 25, will serve 63 months for his October guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
